Oxfam Intermón (Oxfam’s Spanish affiliate) is looking for a new Executive Director (ED) following the completion of the institutionally agreed mandate of the current Director of two 4-year terms.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the new Executive Director will lead Oxfam Intermon as the main executive responsible of the organization. He/she will provide leadership along with the members of the Board of Directors, made up of the directors of each department (Programs, Advocacy and Citizenship, Public Engagement, Finance, People and Organization). He/she will also contribute to the leadership of the Oxfam confederation, together with the executive directors of the other affiliates and the Executive Director of Oxfam International.

Oxfam Intermon has a budget of 110 million euros, a staff of 400 employees and 1,700 volunteers located in different cities in Spain. In addition, there are 800 people contracted in the countries where we carry out our programs as Oxfam.

The budget for the whole confederation amounts to 1,000 million euros and has approximately 10,000 staff.

What are your key responsibilities?

You will be the strategic and operational lead for the organization and your responsibilities will include:

· Leading and guiding the definition of strategies, operational models, plans and budget of the organization aiming at achieving its goals and fostering their implementation.

· Submitting decision proposals to the Board of Trustees on the subjects they decide and be held accountable for your management of them.

· Leading the Board of Directors, empowering their leadership as well as of the senior management team. Ensuring and promoting a safe work environment and an organizational culture aligned with Oxfam values.

· Being an active member of committees and working groups within Oxfam International to define common strategies, plans and operational models for all the affiliates.

· Representing the organization to the internal team, setting a common and clear vision.

· Representing Oxfam Intermón to external stakeholders, such as media, sector forums and events to maximize the presence and impact of the Oxfam Intermon brand. .

· Building political and social networks with other institutions and NGOs, both at national and international levels, in order to contribute to the mission of the organization.

· Ensuring the proper management of the organization’s resources to achieve institutional goals by maximizing the effectiveness, efficiency and adequate use of those resources.

· Ensuring compliance with the Code of Conduct throughout the organization and in particular in your direct team, committing to be an example of this in your practices and behaviors.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a person committed to integrity, with strong personal values, aligned with our mission of social transformation and especially engaged with gender equality and women’s rights. You will possess a personal and professional background in line with our values and be able to demonstrate the following experience and skills:

· Bachelor’s degree or similar. Other complementary leadership and managerial training will be an asset.

· At least 10 years of experience in leadership positions setting and developing strategies and leading teams with high diversity.

· Experience in leadership and management of large, complex, change-oriented and ground-breaking organizations.

· Experience working or collaborating with NGOs or other civil society organizations.

· Experience in international cooperation organizations will be an asset.

· Capacity and experience/skill in setting vision and developing strategy.

· Capacity in supervising budgetary management in a complex organization.

· Transformational leadership of multidisciplinary teams, with strong skills in developing people and supporting them to reach their maximum potential.

· Ability to achieve results through a team with a high level of responsibility, involvement, autonomy and competence.

· Ability to lead the necessary changes to achieve the objectives of the organization.

· Ability to make quick and strategy-focused decisions.

· Excellent communication and external relationship skills in order to represent the organization.

· Knowledge of the Spanish social, political and economic context.

· Experience in public engagement and digital transformation is an asset.

· Fluency in Spanish and English is essential, spoken (negotiation level) and written.

· Availability to travel nationally and internationally up to 5 weeks per year and other 5 weeks in short trips.

· Gross annual salary according to Oxfam Intermon’s local salary scale.

· Expected starting date: March/April 2020.
